Listening to this Mike Huckaby set is making me realize how much I miss house music.

Don't get me wrong, I like techno and tech house (although most of what I've been hearing recently is becoming really boring to me), but I feel like it's being played everywhere right now. It's a really dark sound that takes itself too seriously sometimes. It lacks that soulful, fun feeling. It would suck if this trend continued into the summer, although it looks like it will be that way.

Yes, I know we have Derrick Carter coming, but a good portion of the events you see in the event thread will probably have tech house playing. It would be nice to hear our residents throw down a house set every once in a while. Generally speaking, I'd just like to hear house resurface a bit in this city.

I got off of techno for awhile for this reason. I just wanted something not so dark and twisted. I'm dark and twisted enough as it is, I don't need music giving me any encouragement!

You know what's really nice? When DJs don't narrow themselves down to one specific genre (or sub-sub-genre, as the case may be) of music, maybe throwing some Chicago funk in with some bouncy Detroit, Electro, Breaks, and whatever else makes the cut! Yeah, that's what's really nice...

Not that I'd know any DJs like that...
