acutally there is a DJ school.. sponsored by vestax.. and u get a degree or certificate or something when u graduate. i think its in UK somewhere..
and a DJ license, they have these.. but its for DJs who mix CD's. I forgot exactly how it works..
im in highschool and a DJ, atleast I know how to mix decently.
afew weeks ago at school there was an event, and some guys was spinning hip hop, and he was great at mixing it.. but then some other guy came on and just made a mess of everything, it sounded like garbage.. but noone was able to tell him, or get him to stop. and then they did a scratch session.. oh man I wanted to be shot. the guy seriously had no clue what he was doing, everything was off timing, and it went on for ever.. and when he was finally done, everyone clapped, and the guy thought it was cause they liked him .. but really,, it was because he finally stopped his noise pollution.
another story:
I was listening to a live broadcast from a local toronto club called "berlin" and there was some DJ on.. and he was spinning dance / euro trance. and when he mixed... .. . he cut to the next track, but at the worst possible times, like in the middle of a sentence in the track. the beats were lined up, but the mixes were just plain in the wrong place! I dunno what this guy was thinking. he did about 4 mixes like this, but luckily he actually did some good mixes later on.
so the moral of my story:
dont perform infront of an audience if u suck, or dont know what ur doing.

lol@ the Berlin story. My gino brother goes there every Thursday (almost) and I know the mixes you're talking about, total and utter complete CRAP CRAP CRAP!!! I couldn't believe it, how somebody could even be hired when they do garbage mixing of that calaber. I'm just really really glad there are SOME dj's who spin that style of music and are decent. It's just jokes the entire time until they get more practice.
