Well I'm not sure from what you've posted but any equipment such as this (soundcard, drive with samples etc.) needs to be in a dedicated USB port not daisy chained and especially not through a hub.

Personally from your list, the Virus and Motu XT need to be on dscreet USB ports and the rest can all be though hubs/daisy chained.

Try that.

i opened a thread on this a few weeks away, have exactly the same problem, it's fuckig annoying and i can't solve it...

there was also ANOITHER thread on this since mine... obviously a common problem

Ok.. after removing and putting the usbs back in in different orders repeatedly I eventually landed up with the TI on it's own hub and the motu midi xt shared with only the kybd/mouse (which seems fine). As much as I'd like it to have it's own discreet hub too I think it's bandwidth requirements should be met and not interfered with too much by kybd/mouse.

So now Virus Control Centre on the mac says it's happy that the TI is on it's own too.. back into Logic try to use the VC.. I have to say that it was a bit more responsive and sofar no sync issues. That said my two biggest TI issues still remain...
#1 if i leave logic open over night (my mac has no power saving/standby options on) and come back the next day.. open the VC it's UI is dead.. the tabs/buttons highlight.. but it's dead..dead.
#2 Note drops, notes not triggered still happens when i use more than about 3 notes at once.. irrespective of the complexity of the patches.

So although I've gotten it a bit more stable it's still far from usable.

I'm still wondering how-come the TI doesn't make use of a full bandwidth USB2 ..

Can anyone who uses their TI a lot give some sort of indication (Roughly) as to how many parts they manage to have running at the same time?

My note dropping issues seem to start with about 3/4 parts with no unison, 1 playing a 3 note chord (pad) and the other 2 or 3 doing short 1/16th note stabs/plucks.

Hi johno27. It might bring you comfort to know that everyone using the Ti on a Mac that I know of is having the same problems as you. In particular, Sean Tyas who gave a presentation on audio production that I attended a few weeks back, brought this very issue to everyone's attention. He expressed great frustration over this issue but said Access is aware of it and is trying to solve it.

I'm personally using the Ti on a PC and have no such problems. I have had up to 12 synth parts running simultaneously from my Ti without any issue. I asked Sean about this and he comfirmed that all of the producers he knows that use the Ti on a PC are not having these issues either so it seems to be Mac specific.

tbh it's so annoying this is new news!
i only bought my TI a couple of months ago and have been having a LOT of trouble with it.. i researched it pretty well, how the fuck didn't i know about this bullshit!?!

i can't imagine any way they can fix it without releasing a new version as well.

agreed i think it is so shit that they released the new one with out a fix .. i dont have one but was think about buying one very soon but i have a mac and i dont want all these problems..

youd think that it should have been fixed with the new ti2

Yeah, it really is a LOAD of BS.. I'm so disappointed really because I've had my TI for about 2 years, and as yet I think I've hardly used it in a project.. its just too flaky.
I spoke with Sean via a friend of mine works with him a lot and apparently the 3.0.3 update has solved his issues.. I can't say the same.
I've found another issue that seems to happen with the VC when left open for a long time.. some of the patches detune themselves massively. If you check the osc. controls they're not detuned but you play any note and there's no relative pitch just a filthy awful noise.. once again it requires shutting down Logic and re-starting.

I've been fighting with the Access support guys over email now for awhile as they refuse to acknowledge any problem, as far as they're concerned TI's work perfectly for everyone (except me apparently).

I also gave them a good bashing about the whole USB2.0 highspeed thing.. Their reasoning is that to implement USB2.0 highspeed (even with the TI|2 would have massively upped the price.. which I think is horseshit tbh... the price difference in buying a USB2.0 hs controller chip vs. a 1.1 compatible one is probably a couple of dollars if not identical.. and as for the drivers the code changes would be pretty minimal to enable usb2.0 hs and just whack in an extra 13 or so outputs via usb.

I was very understand about the TI bugs in the early days after buying it, giving Access the benefit of the doubt and time to solve this stuff... but it's now 3 years later and I'm still sitting with the most expensive synth in my studio basically being a pretty flashing paper weight.

I suggested they put some thought into a TI|2 Plus unit, add an extra cpu or 2 and USB2.0 highspeed with software that allows the full bandwidth to be used (IE: you'd have enough cpu to run 16 parts and enough USB to send them ALL down on their own channel). If they did it and got the USB working I'd be happy for them to remove the DAC/audio outs and midi to offset the cost a bit even if they had to.
That would be a true studio center piece..

Another thing I suggested they consider is some sort of open oscillator architecture. It would be great if people could design new oscillators for the synth and upload them to the unit.. then some of us with coding experience could replace their pretty filthy weak oscillators for them

All in all... I wish I could love my TI.. but I dont... I need to replace it with something, but the problem is what.. I'm getting a DSI P08, but thats not really the same sort of thing.. its not going to be a general go-to synth with it's limited outs/polyphony.. wonderful for some layers but not a work-horse. I often find Predator capable of producing very Virus like sounds as it seems to have a similar architecture, but once again I'm having major CPU issues with predator which I'm hoping next weeks 1.5.5 update should fix.. ideally I'd rather rely on a solid piece of h/w than a flaky piece of software with stupid dongle protection (another thing I just can't stand).

End of rant...

Next time u email them u should reference one of the several hundred threads I'm sure there is about how shifty access are being with problems and tell em there losing customers
