Dissident Music returns with the second installment in its' Dissident Generation EP series, created by label honcho Noel Sanger to spotlight the next generation of DJ's and producers. With worthy productions, but names most have yet to hear, these talents represent the cutting edge and the future of electronic music.
First up, Andrew Morphous, who has made a bit of a name for himself in NYC dubstep circles with his monthly Dead Crew Orbit, as well as hosting dozens of music-production tutorial DVD's, teams up with Philadelphia's budding tech-house DJ/producer Jaden K, for "Mission Control", an astronaut-sampling slice of early morning goodness guaranteed to send your mind into orbit while your low-end rumbles. It's clearly a match made in house heaven, as the beats elevate the mood relentlessly to a perfect crecendo and release.
Next in line, we have South Florida DJ duo RioTGeaR, who are moving and shaking their way through the scene via their role coordinating promotions for no less visible an event than Miami's Ultra Music Festival, as well as DJ residencies on the Dayglow US Tour and guest spots at some of South Florida's best venues, such as Space and Gryphon. Comprised of Andy Pate and Bobby Bassett, RioTGeaR delivers a stormer in the mold of classic progressive dance music: Dark and funky rhythms give way to ominous melodies in the breakdown, complete with live guitar by Pate.
Last but far from least, and hailing from Utah's Salt Lake City is Brian Blurr. Brian is part of the legendary V2 Productions (who have thrown some the regions biggest indoor and outdoor events), as well as an accomplished DJ in his own right, playing residencies and guest spots all over town. Here he teams up with David Larsen for "Starfox", a futuristic slice of house music with a retro-rave hook and devastating electro overtones. This is the kind of tune that makes a small club feel like a big one, and a big club feel like a massive.
