State Parks
Who's into getting back to nature? hiking, camping, fishing, boating, whatever you like to outdoors? state parks are a great escape and pretty fun.
Oklahoma has 50 state parks (believe it or not). I've seen 3 so far...making it a goal to go see more. What's the coolest place you've been? I thought the Grand Canyon was pretty badass. used to go camping at Starved Rock in Illinois growing up too.

Fraser Island is my favourite nature type place. It's World Heritage listed, and the world's largest sand island. Such a beautiful place.

Nah, it's too far out, and you wouldn't want to try swimming either, since the ocean around there is a breeding ground for tiger sharks
It's about 40 mins by boat, from Urangan harbour in Hervey Bay.

Great places to be alone. And cry.
No one ever hears you. And no one ever will.

it's funny that you mention this, actually, while atop of the bluff at Roman Nose State Park, i shouted out "hello" out to the camp site. dunno if anyone heard me, but it was a cool echo.

Reminded me of this (fastforward to 1:50 to understand why... though it may not make sense unless you know the film "28 Days Later").

It's too bloody hot to go on a hike. All there is out here is deserts and sand dunes. Wouldn't be too happy to get a snake or scorpion bite..

Nature is awesome. The beauty of parts of the UK makes up for the ultimately scummy people that inhabit it.
Scotland is insanely beautiful in that way, but more local to me for the moment is the peak district and the national forest.
thank fuck we have stuff like this, evens it out a bit

Nice pics Ian.
I fully agree too: Scotland is stunning. I was I'd been into photography when I was there
