What CDs/Burning software do you use?

I am new to mixing, just got 2 cdj 800s and every few cds i burn i am getting E 8305 errors on BOTH cdjs.. they are fairly new and hope that they are not the issue.

i take it either my CDRs i burn with // Verbatim
CD burning software // Nero 7
burning speed?? // 24-40 (i know lower helps but does it make a difference in this day and age?)

just wondering if anyone could recommend CDRs and burning software that they never have had a problem with, thanks!

I burn at 2x

1 track/release as stated above... has to be in same key

As far as CD's...the TDK ones are decent i guess. Honestly i havn't had any problems with any of the CD's ive used. And ive used everything from cheap promedia ones to memorex to fuji film ones...they all work good.

I use iTunes to burn. Easy to for me to change ID tag's and search through my library.

Just stick with 2x, and stick with basically any CD's that arnt silver on both sides or other weird colors on the data side. Have fun man!

sweet, thanks for the info..

yeah, the CDs i burn are "Data/MP3" in contrast to "CD/80min" .. im sure the CD way is more reliable and should change to that.

what do you mean by same key?
isn't it a waste of your album case to have so many 1 track/release CDs?

99% of the time from releases there is only one track out of the releases i would mix with.

thanks for the tips!

Yeah def switch to burning them as Audio CDs instead of Data/mp3.

I mean, if an artist releases a single with 2 different tracks on it. Most likely they wont be in the same key, thus i would burn seperate cd's.

If the release has like...the original plus 2 remix's...all in the same key, ill burn all 3 tracks to a CD.

Another reason i do this is to prevent screwing up CD's. The data on the cd...is burned from the center out...thus if im switching cds quickly and grab it by the data part itself...i most likely wont hit the data thats on it with my finger prints. Just something to think about you know.

I have a 350 cd wallet...which is perfect for me.

Plus many more wallets at home but i use the 350 for if i go out anywhere. Organized by Key, and kinda organized by BPM, but mainly key.

Hope this helps some too.

I burn @ max speed (x52) to audio discs using Nero.

I buy the cheapest CDs.

Never ever had an issue with any read error of any kind with my beloved CDJ1000 mk3s.

Wow, that makes too much sense..

..sometimes you mix tracks that just don't friggin work, and you think the best mixers in the world couldn't even make a smooth tranny.

Also makes sense that sometimes I come across some mp3s that have the 2a at the end of them aswell.

What I want to know is how the software detects the key.. must be in the baseline right.. when the song is winding down or starting.

all you need is a piano. Hit the keys. The one that sounds similar is the key you're after hey Presto!! (well not quite)..

But no I don't think it's in the bass line. But then I've never tried to key tracks before. I'm not into harmonic mixing. I get it wrong sometimes but often it'll just sound right to me and I know that if I were to check the tracks would be 'compatible'.
