Interview Attire...

Everybody has their own opinion, and I'd like to hear it. Some say that white shirt/black dress pants is a little too stark of a contrast, but many do it anyway.

What about a black shirt/black dress pants w/ brown leather dress shoes?...I am borderline forced to wear this and only this since all of my stuff is in storage (I am in a transitioning period between one place and the next; yet to find a new place to live)...this outfit is all I have. But I could shuffle through the storage unit to my clothes if need be...I'm just seeing if this attire is just fine the way it is (I think it is, but there are critics).

Mom says that all black is a little too overbearing, and it isn't 'inviting' enough for a work atmosphere. She says blue is the more appropriate.

I think black indicates power and confidence, two things a business setting would adore (I'm hopefully going to be interviewing for some personal banking positions...would this outfit work for a bank?).

I am a young lad...please enlighten, the whole combination of suits, ties, pants, shirts, shoes, etc. and what goes with what is new to me. Relatively new, at least.

Always opt for nice shoes. I think that the black pants with the white shirt and tie of your choice is always classy.

Not too sure about your all black outfit -- might be a bit dark. I'll never wear brown shoes with black pants either. But it's better than nothing.

I do too, but I've heard that it's almost distracting with the contrast...you want the attention of the interviewer to go towards what you're saying. Not your outfit. But I'm on your side on this one.

Never thought of this...sounds absolutely brilliant!

Yeah, that's one of the few formal rules I knew. It's amazing what an interviewer will pick up just by a 5 second glance.

That's what I was afraid of. In trying to avoid a distracting color scheme, doing all black might not be expressing a very 'out-goingness' attitude, which is key in trying to get a job.

Would't be surprised...I rarely browse so I could have missed the boat on that one.

Wearing all black could be slightly questionable depending on the position/company but that can all depend on the hiring manager. IMO, the more traditional the position/company the better off you are staying closer to solid suit, solid shirt (white, blue) and a non-overbearing tie. Also, brown with black is typically a fashion no-no.

For my new job, I wore a black/white attire. My supervisor said I looked as though I was going to a wedding. I got hired nevertheless.

Go buy yourself a shirt...they're only like 20 bucks since I doubt you'll be buying anything too fancy.

Black on black is just.....no.

I would suggest black pants with a button-down shirt in a different colour.

Deep blue with black is my personal preference on a man.

Your call on the tie. If you go with one, make sure it's an impeccable match.
