you can't
no monitors are 100% accurate

You can look at the spec sheet in the owner's manual to see the frequency response, but that's only part of the story. The acoustics in your room will probably have a bigger influence on what you're hearing. Other variables come into play as well: listening position, volume, the quality of your converters, etc.

For me, it pretty much comes down to getting monitors which sound "clear" to you (where you don't have trouble separating the elements in the mix unless something is wrong with the mix itself), and checking it on many different sources. (My girlfriend's car is a BITCH, that's where I learn how screwed up my lower mid-bass actually is.)

One thing that I noticed in a HUGE WAY recently is that you need to make sure you have enough space between them. The stereo image gets squashed the closer they are.

I have since purchased a pair of stands and the monitors are positioned long-ways (as they're intended) and are next to both sides of the desk, thus much further away. WOW. I had never heard these monitors so vividely since I purchased them 6 months ago. I had the placement completely wrong since I had them!

The thing is it seems to me that my speakers have too much highs. But i cant make sure whether it's so, cause i have nothing to compare with. Especially when i listen to radioshows or cd audio tracks (wma), i can even hear lots of different hisses and overall sound image sounds like very noisy during playback.

You know....I keep reading how important room acoustics are and you need this and that for your room, yet I see these vids with top producers in the studio and they have nothing, no bass traps. Interesting.

A lot of the top guys are working in purpose-built studios though, where none of the walls are parallel, the floor is raised etc.

yep, the foam you see in a lot of studios is the cheap and easy way. not as good but does the job and will solve most problems. had a tiny oom at music college where they spent £10,000 on acoustics, all in the wall design and speaker mounts etc. sounded f**kin awesome in there and it was only about 10 x 15ft. really accurate response as well.
