Can we bring back the funk?!?
Seriously. I know that it isn't trendy right now to produce music with a good groove. Rather, the "in thing" is to have a rhythm that insists exclusively of an incessant, invariable kick drum and a bunch of clicking noises that sound somewhere between walking with a box of tic-tacs in your pocket and a chip going down the Plinko board. It gets really, really boring.
Even at the shows that I've been to recently where most of the crowd is the same group of house junkies I always see, people get bored, the dance floor is more empty than ever, and people leave early.
Honestly, with the dance music that is in vogue right now, I can understand why most people don't like house. (To be fair, there is a lot of great tech-house and techno out there that has some funk to it but not much of it is being played right now.) I find it ironic that dance music is gravitating to a state where it becoming less and less danceable.
We need to bring back the funk! We have enough influential people on this board that we can make it happen. (Including a choice few who very rarely post here but who I know are reading this. ) Let's give people a reason to like this shit!
