Giant Fridays @ Spin presents Dj Heather + Colette + a new drink!
Spin welcomes a double header doozy to Spin featuring two of house music's most well known female icons - Dj Heather + Colette. Coming around to celebrate the OM 15 year anniversary Colette and DJ Heather are two of the most celebrated artists on the Om Records roster, working around the globe on recording projects and in concerts with such artists as Depeche Mode, Derrick Carter and Greenskeepers. With over 15 years of experience behind her Dj Heather has grown to become one of the Windy City’s main Dj exports. She is an artist who defies conformity, defines quality and continues to nurture her solid skills for soul music of the technological generation. Colette possesses the unmistakable voice of post-millennial house music. Her sweet-but-sultry voice has been called "angelic" so many times, it's a miracle she hasn't grown wings! Setting up the night is Cris Herrera & Dj Mimi.
In the second floor lounge enjoy the other side of EDM with some beats hosted by SDRavers.net featuring Aphter, Jon Doss, Baquai & Psyler.
Guest list is $10 before 10pm - $15 before 11pm + enjoy our new Vodka Iced Tea drink special for just $5!!

With all due respect, I wouldn't call Colette and Heather second rate talent.
I didn't mean it as an attack on Heather or colette, I have just been really let down with the lineup for a while and according to Giant schedule, it looks like S.D. will continue being left out.
I was just wondering why?
Dont get me wrong I really like Farina, but has been at SPIN like 6-7 times THIS year, thats a little much.

It used to be:
DJ spins in OC on Thurs.
San Diego on Fri.
Hollywood on Sat.
Now DJ are being booked in OC/LA
but San Diego has been left out.

looks like the sweet tea vodka is hitting the clubs! i got toasted off that stuff all labor day wknd. I need a few months off from it lol.
As far as the Talent at Spin goes, it seems like an unfortunate cycle: The crowds have smaller in general this year, so the venue can't/won't spend the money on the bigger DJ's, then not as many show up, then, then.

Very fun night...
The first lady of the night that was opening produced a nice mellow set of sexy house. The only thing that kinda saddened me about DJ Mimi was how much she looked like she liked the music without being interested in her set. Maybe she just was having a nervousness fit. Still spot on.
Cris' set bugged me in that I felt like he didn't bring anything new to the table. It just felt a little flat to me. Not bad, just flat.
Collette had a great set. She kept a variety of sounds pounding the dance floor and I have not had that much fun dancing at Spin in a very very long time. Great stuff.
Heather brought her normal Chicago influenced house sound. It was great in quality, but stayed the same too much for my taste. Each track felt like it blended too much with the track before and after it and I just lost my groove.
After working 11 hours on Friday and battling my summer cold, I was happy to be back at Spin for the first time since May. Great seeing a number of old friends there and making new ones. Hopefully I'll be back soon again as its the club I love to promote and has the chance to be the great one in San Diego!
