Heya guys.

I'm (hopefully) coming up to Sydney in about 2 weeks, and seeing as I haven't been there for about 6 years (when I was 13 no less), my knowledge of the nightlife up there isn't too good. I've got a couple of mates up there but they've both got full-time jobs, so I'm not sure that they're going to have time to show me all the hot-spots.

Anyway, my point is that I need a list a places to be and places to avoid so that I don't end up wasting my 5 days there. So if you guys could help me out with some venue names and their approximate locations (relative to the Opera House if possible - just kidding ) then that'd be great.

Also, is Home as great as they say it is? Should I be going there on the Friday or the Saturday nights?

If your going to Home go to Sublime on Friday night. It's a huge point of contention whether it's the best night out or if it's as good as the old Sublime but there's no doubting it's the biggest regular club night in sydney. And if you get sick of the music in Voodoo you can go to listen to breaks, dnb, or house. If you don't go to Sublime Go to Plastic at Zen 22 Bayswater road Kings X. Plastic is my prefered most of the time but it depends on your mood.
A place I do suggest you go is Sound on Sunday at the Greenwood Hotel. It's a wicked day club/recovery. It goes from 12pm-10pm.
On the Saturday night you could try Progress at gas.

No matter what you do check out 3D world. It's a free magazine available thoughout music stores in Sydney and is online at www.3dworld.com or www.3dworld.com.au. It has all you need to know about what's going on in the essental guide.

Yeah 3DWorld is the best mag for clubbing info in Sydney.

Best friday nights in Sydney are at Sublime and Plastic.

Best saturday night is probably Progress @ Gas (went there last night .. went OFF!)

You could probably try Icebox on a Sat as well, it has pretty good music but last time I was there it was the same night as Utopia, so there like 10 people there. No I'm not exaggerating

If ur gunna be in Syd on July 5 (next Friday) .. Altitude @ Dendy is having opening night, melodic uplifting trance according to morro, our resident Altitude promoter

Just make sure u steer clear of Gas on Thurs (RnB) and Jacksons on George (wall-to-wall CRAP, I'm talking about the women and the music). Unfortunately most places in Syd like to play funk, disco, house and breaks, so ur choices are kinda limited.

But if u want a good bar just to drink, try Slip Inn.

Oh yeah forgot to add: Home is definitely one of Australia's best clubbing spaces .. it's not some converted basement or upper floor or anything, it's a real good venue.
