i guess it comes down to having ya ta buddies giving their honest view on peoples work.
witch is fine i think it's helped me in the past but i do also think that a finished track should be posted in pro mo forum.

i will say also it happens because the production forum is quite active

Probably because one guy posts a track here, gets good feedback making others wanting the same.

Combined with the amount of people posting their own music in the promotion forum without giving anything back, resulting in half the threads getting 0 replies.

Well, this IS a production forum isn't it? People come here to discuss everything production related with other producers. So if you post your tunes and want some feedback on the production side of it... Why not?
Generally speaking, people in this forum are producers so you'd get feedback on the more technical side.

Although, I do think finished tracks, where people are not asking about how their mix sounds, what should they eq etc... should go into Music Producers Promotion forum.
