Question Mixer as carry-on luggage: Security issues?

So I'll be taking my xone as carry-on baggage when I fly out next week.

I was wondering if there could be any potential concerns over security? I've already checked with the airlines who basically asked me a list of questions to see if the mixer qualifies as a 'dangerous good'. Although they said I shouldn't have any problems, I still have my doubts.

Well, laptops pass through x-ray scanning but what if security starts chin stroking on seeing a box with knobs, red buttons and LEDs?

well i once traveled with a multi effect, boss me-50b, is not exactly a mixer, but its pretty suspicious, anyway, when they were checking my bag they stopped asked me what it was, i explained and the guy said it was all cool. That was in France.

because all good movie bombs have count-down displays and tick?
apart from weight and the chance of some gimp trying to jam one of their oversize bags into the same locker as your mixer, it'll be fine

I'm allowed up to 15lbs, so weight is not an issue.
As for overhead lockers, I'll probably store it under the seat.

hopefully they are not that daft to actually be suspicious.

From experience you wont have any problems....they may give it a swab to test, but other than that you will be fine.

unless you are flying out of TLV...in which case expect them to take it apart to look inside and be highly suspicious..

My friend had his Xone in carry-on on his way back to Texas, didn't have any problems.

I've brought my Ecler Evo 5 through the airport in carry on luggage many times, just make sure you're prepared to explain what it is in non-sketchy way.

you should be fine, but also be prepared in case they want to take it apart.

i personally would avoid this, as unless you are moving for good, there should be 0 reason to bring an expensive piece of kit with you.

i guess the question would be why are you bringing it wouldn't it?

yeah I'm moving for good..and where I'm moving, A&H products are ridiculously priced due to lack of any distributors in the region.

Here is another related question: Would you suggest I take the xone in its original A&H packaging? I have a trolley bag that it fits in - but I'll have to bubble wrap or provide some packaging support for cushion. This way, I can even pack my 2 external hard drives as carry-on in the trolley. I won't have room for carrying those if I bring the mixer in the original A&H box.

If I take it in a trolley bag, I could try to flatten the box out and put it in one of my suitcases as checked luggage.

Don't check it bring it as carry on. Just explain you're a dj and hopefully you don't look like someone from the middle east so they don't stereotype you and pull it all apart

i would much rather bring it as a carry on than check my bag. Airlines treat checked luggage like ping pong balls.

Had you been crossing borders you could have been stopped by immigration. The canadian customs agents have sent back so many djs without valid work permits that it was pretty insane. They would see the record maxi and right away , "sir please step into that office on your left.".
