This is just the first part of the Journey, through 'minimal' techno...
The next 'part' will be a little bit newer (2005 - 2009) and "trancy-er" techno and the third part will be some older-school (1990-2004ish) 'tech-house', 'acid-house' and 'acid-techno' bangers.
That said, I really don't like to classify the music I like into genres too much, I mostly just play what I feel - but the last 10 years or so it seems that others are so hung up on genre labels that I think it's unfortunately rubbing off on me a bit
In my honest opinion, most recent genre, sub-genre and micro-genre labels were 'invented' for the masses and marketing machines in order to make a more consumer friendly, pre-packaged and diluted product through which to sell our underground music to the people. House, trance, techno, progressive, minimal, breakbeat, UK hardcore, it's all house music to me. It all begins with a groove, not a business plan
Regardless, this Journey should end up to be just about four hours in all. This is about how long I request my average set length to be when booked to dj live, and my intention is to build this as a live set - I'm just taking the time to make it a little more polished
I'll be mastering and posting part two of the Journey next week. I hope you'll join me. Stay toooned.
