Digital camera

Hi, i need to get a new digital camera for the raves. The only problem is my mate goes who takes his digital SLR which is obviously huge. I wanted something more like the compact ones that fit easily into my pocket. However from past experince they are worthless in low light. I was just wondering if anyone has any particular cameras that they recomend or have seen pictures from that look like they deal well with the extreme lighting of clubs.

look into the Canon S90, that camera is solid

If you want DSLR performance in a point and shoot size, look into:
Olympus Pen, the Lumix GF1 and the Samsung NX10

Those are the new EVIL system cameras.
EVIL stands for Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens.

But let me warn you, they are just as expensive as a prosumer DSLR. ($900 kit price)

Thanks for the help the cannon S90 seems like the best option in terms of portability. Read some reviews and not a bad word has been said about it. Cant wait to get it now so at last ill be able to have pictures aswell as vivid memories of a great night out.

why? they into "raves"?

as a general rule the bigger the sensor the better in low light. i think there are compact cameras with bigger ones. cameras with IS Image Stabilization allow you to shoot at a slower shutter speed without getting motion blur. cannon is known for this technology
