Rick Effey Sector 30, Mauro Picotto Pegasus, basickly all the HH releases under the BXR label. I like any HH that has a POUNDING bass line, that isnt cheesy.

check out anything on the honeypot label, tidy, and nukleuz

as for mixing... i'm a fan of the quick eq switches
as in the bass is going, and just as the bassline for the next track is about kick, flip the eqs and go from there... you have to hear it to fully understand what i'm talking about

there was a thread about hard house a little while ago, do a search and it should come up

the best hh labels

mixing it is fairly easy, as it is generally acknowledged that the transistions do not need to be supa smooth. still sounds good if they are.

hint: use the fader instead of volumes

i dunno, just go at it, and remember to keep it pumping, imho nothing beats keeping a hh set mean and nasty sounding. i classify it as ugly music (not bad music just for some reason i htink of that :P). i think of that when i spin and it keeps me mean and nasty. it hella fun!!!

tom harding does this great thing with the volume, he quickly does the volume off and on, in sequence with the tempo. just download a tom harding live-set, you will hear what i mean
