Question turntable help

Recently I have noticed that when I play my vinyl the sound is not clear, it sounds as if it is distorting.

This is a problem I have never experienced before and I am unaware as to why it is occuring.

I have tried a numerous number of different vinyls and the problem remains (one vinyl in particular sounds bad especially when all the percussion in the track is introduced).

I have even replaced the needles and still the same distortion. The mixer doesn't seem to be the problem as I have tried plugging in the turntables directly into the amp.

The speakers are fine as radio stations sound fine. The turntables are grounded correctly into the mixer so that isn't the problem.

Does anybody know what the problem could be and how I could fix it.

p.s I am using technics tables
Thanks your feedback is appreciated.

hm...
maybe your grounding cables want to be connected better?
try to plug them into the amp grounding and not the mixer grounding...

may be this will help

Take out both cartidges and wet the ends

or try unpluging one of the tables from the ground see if that makes a difference.

Peace

is it possible you are overdriving the mixer, or overdriving the amp from the mixer?

Maybe your cartrdige headshell is actually sliding on the vinyl itself, causing physical distortion and making it sound all crackly and hissing...that's what happened when I first bought my Stantons, didn't know what the fuck the sound was...thought it was my speaker or record, but I looked at the cartrdige and found out that it was actually sliding on the vinyl!
If this is the case, adjust tonearm height, or replace styli so that the cartridge is lifted off, like it's supposed to be.
Good luck.

Ortofons seem to eliminate the problem, I think the tracks contained frequencies that my old carts couldn't handle well (atleast thats what I think). Possible I wasn't using the correct weight settings.
Thanks for the help
