I was at a club this weekend where the DJs just absolutely sucked...
and if I say suck I mean REALLY sucked. You cannot even comprehend the amount of suck. And I think they (2 guys) where the residents)
He did things like killing the bass for the beats after a build-up, completely killing energy (Not that there was lots of enery) and also as soon as the crowd got into a song that they liked he would do all sorts of crap effects and cut in other songs not beatmatched properly completely destroying any type of flow or crowd satisfaction he might have had...
He was constantly juggeling shit around like he was on some bad speed trip or something...
Fuck man if the crowd like a song LET IT PLAY.
What does one do?
I am seriously concidering phoning the club and telling them that it's unacceptable to have such shit, it would have been 1000 beter if they had just had Itunes on shuffle as opposed to that ftard.
This seems to me a quite popular club 1000s of people/weekend, not really my scene or my music taste but stil.
I have never seen people in a crowd flinch before...

The reason it's so hard to get gigs and smaller DJs rarely get paid anymore (certainly over here) is because there are so many DJs about and it doesn't make any difference to the promoter which one they book - because people keep going back (although there's normally a limit!)
In London there are 100s maybe even 1000s of very average DJs. Not necessarily really awful per say, but because clubbers have very little quality control, they'll go along to nights even if the DJ's a bit weak. Which means even if you're the best DJ in the world, being good doesn't get you any more gigs because people won't really care as long as you've got a very basic level of competence.
This is a big part of why I get thoroughly bored half of the time I go out - because the promoters can get away with booking very average acts!

I am thinking that it's almost like a restaurant with bad food.
You never go there again, but you have to complain as well or how will they know that it's not acceptable?

Where i am now there seem to be few DJs that would do live gigs. There are a select number of underground and bedroom DJs as well. I know if i got my shit together, i would have a job somewhere.
