Does anyone know how to use system exclusive commands with an old Roland Soundcanvas synth? I see all of these strings on webpages but I can't understand much of it. I want to be able to turn on the mt-32 emulation in my roland e70. Lost the string to do that a while back...can anyone help?

You will need to have software that can dump sysex files to your synth. Also your synth needs to be setup to receive these files. I'm not familiar with the e70 so I can't really help. I know that most sequencer software can send sysex.

yeah, I'm using Cakewalk 9 to send the system exclusive messages to the synth. I got this midi file from roland that would turn the mt-32 emulation on but it puts the keyboard into GS mode which doesn't let you play anything using the keys except stuff sent from the sequencer or an external controller. I'm trying to figure out what the long string does but so far no luck.
