Spectral manipulation

Anyone know any good spectral tools for PC?

I'm pretty intrigued by the possibilities that spectral transformations allow, but can't find many tools.

This one seems to be the gold standard http://www.uisoftware.com/MetaSynth/index.php but its mac only. Fail.

Izotope RX allows some spectral manipulation, but is more focussed on removing and fixing stuff than it is on creative possibilities.

Check it out.

a good band pass filter with very hi q and slope (like 48dB) that you put on several auxes so you can automate the send of a (muted) channel to those auxes and create soundscapes instantly.

Alternatively, if you want something that does it all: There's that thing in Logic since v4 called spectral gate. Get the latest pc version and try it out, I think this is what you're looking for! V5.5.1 right?

Yeah using aux sends is one idea, but gives a bit of a different effect I think... What's happening in that video is actually the creation of 2048 bandpassed channels, and then they're being muted and unmuted constantly. Gets a bit hard to do with sends.

I'll have a look at spectral gate, but getting ahold of a 10 year old DAW might be a bit tricky....

oh I'm sure you will find logic 5 for windows in no time on some sites (by the way, this is abandonware, so it's nothing that you can call piracy).

what you need is in fact a spectral filter that works a little bit on the FFT principles of additive synthesis right? (this is bastardization, I agree).

I am sure there are filters like this one, and freebies. I guess you've already had a look on kvr... that's strange that those plugins are not being cited more often though!

Yeah, true, I'm not too fussed about the morality of that.

Argh, yes and no. What I want isn't a straight filter bank no. Have another watch of the video and try to understand what's going on towards the end there.

He's dropping specific parts of the audio spectrum in and out in a rhythm. Its really cool and I don't think it can be pulled off by a normal VST with such a high resolution.

What's needed is actually some sort of sequencer that can do it. So far I've come across Coagula which seems as if it might work, but its hell old and ugly and not as elegant as metasynth.

I'd even try to do this with some handy MSP programming, but no one on IDMforums seems to be helping me out with that

Hmmm... that might be more what I'm looking for actually with the actual soundhack program itself. But again looks like mac only

I'm definately finding some cool tools in this search though.
