that track is basically the worst track ive ever heard so im reading this with great skepticism. i dont really want to be anything like the terrible swedish cheesy sellouts. and not only does their music sucks, they are complete assholes too. worst attitude within edm i have witnessed.

I totaly agree, just terrible track.
But it is quite simple, they`re mostly festival djs, and they use that good vibe on festivals to promote their crappy tunes. I remember them playing at EXIT festival last year, they were just terrible, crappy track selecton, crappy flow and vibe, and in some segments even crappy mixing. And somehow crowd was so happy and everyone danced, but it wasnt cuz of their music, its because festivals have that good and positive vibe, and partly because Moby killed it before them :P

For what it's worth, I didn't really like the track either, but then again there is a lot of music that gets hyped that I don't particularly like. It just seems to reinforce the theory that its more about that marketing than the music.

I think you're right. The UK market is especially bad, not that it exactly translates to EDM though which is less marketing driven.

There was this great expose done by king pedo (not joking - long story) - Jonathan King.

He was very famous as a radion DJ and he took the Daughter of a Cabinet Minister (Edwina Curry's Daughter) and promoted the hell out of her upcoming debut single. After a fair amount of work and negotiation, he got a guarantee for at least the #2 national chart based solely on levaraged marketing with the large retailers and distributors.

He then blew the whistle the night before it was due to be released - the best part was: they hadn't even recorded a song. It was all just marketing an bullshit and they'd managed to secure a "hit" record.

As for the SHM, I have no idea what the hype is about. They play cheesey crap-house-pop records and wave their arms about a lot.

It was so long ago (1997) that there's hardly any info on it.

The only thing I can find was from sinitta's (late 80's early 90's pop tart) wiki:

All of those child singers usually aren't very skilled for the reason that they want other kids to sing along.
