Thanks for the input, guys. I guess I'll be finding out more for myself as I'll be downloading PT9 this evening (yes, legally). I found a killer deal on PTLE8 and bought the upgrade to PT9 yesterday. No, I'm not changing hosts entirely, but Sonar X1 has some serious bugs to work out before it will be usable full-time and I just sorta wanted a change of scenery, particularly for audio editing and mixing, which I really liked to do in PTLE when I had it. And, I really want Beat Detective. I hated tracking with PTLE when I had it due to the crappy sound of the MBox, but I'll definitely be trying it with my SSL Alpha Channel/828mkII.
I may actually give it a shot for MIDI as well since most of what I'm working on now is equal parts audio (e.g., vocals, guitars, bass, live percussion) and MIDI, but isn't requiring a lot of detailed MIDI work (less EDM, more organic and pop-ish). That said, I've been watching the PT MIDI videos on groove3.com and, either they've made huge improvements in that department, or it was much better implemented than I recall from PTLE6.
Hey RANN (or anybody else who uses PT) - have you used the FXpansion RTAS/VST wrapper? Any thoughts? Over the years, I've read in some places that it can be a CPU hog and maybe even have some stability/timing issues, but those generally referred to v1 as I recall??? I have RTAS for most of my plugins, but there a few (e.g., Camel Audio products) that are VST only.
