Opinions are like assholes....
...everybody has one. Anyway with that being said I'd like to get a topic started regarding everyones preferred music style. I mean I really hate hard trance or "happy" trance. I like a good melodic trance tune or something that is just chilled to the core. However I do like a good stomper from time to time but it has to be done RIGHT. None of this repetitive BS I keep hearing. So anyway I'd like everyone to post a tune that represents the very best of the style of music they love. For example mine would be:
Melodic trance = Chicane - Saltwater
Chillout = Energy 52 -Cafe Del Mar (Michael Woods Remix)
Classic trance = Sasha - Xpander
Progressive trance = Bullit - Cried To Dream (Max Graham Remix)
Club stomping trance = Uberzone - Botz (Synthetik Mix)
Best intro track = Project Medusa vs. Exor - Moonshine (Exor Mix Part II)
Most euphoric moment = 3:20 into the track L.S.G. - Netherworld (gets me everytime)
Best trance vocals = Delerium - Silence
I could go on and on but you get the idea. BTW I'm pretty wasted right now so appologies if this topic is like lame or something.

Have seen far worse topics Though this is done a few times already.. Here's my list:
Melodic progressive: Yunus - Red Pilot
Dark progressive: Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea (Satoshi Tomiie main path mix)
Classics: Sasha - Xpander and Bedrock - Heaven scent
Ambient: Sasha - Wavy Gravy
Club / house: Slam - Lifetimes and Jakatta - American dream (Joey Negro club mix)
Trance: Paul Van Dyk - For an angel
Best intro track: Jay Welsh - Four horsemen (Tilt ragga sub dub)
Best final track: Hybrid - Visible noise
Most euphoric moment: 6.32 into Heaven Scent, when the main melody comes knocking on the door for the 2nd time... excellent.

Why are you trying to be overly analytical about a genre that holds no boundaries?
If your going to even -attempt- to neatly place them in labled sections take the following into consideration:
tempo
vocal arrangement
beat sequencing
length
buildups/breakdowns
riffs
intro/outro
there are a shit heap more sub-categories trance and tracks alike can be characterized by, u cant expect to place Djs/Prouders into unjustified categories like: "Club stomping trance" i mean wtf is that after all?
Take a Dj like Mauro Picotto for example, if we look at a track like
Komodo and compare it to another production of his like Freetown there a huge comparison - one's got a melodic stereotypically trance edge and the other is a hard distorted mother-f.ucker of a techno track.
And with quotes like: "Melodic trance? Picotto spits on your melodic trance" straight out of Mixmag whos to say?
Enjoy it for what its worth rather than trying to isolate and pigeon hole every possible track/Dj/Producer etc.

I don't think that was the intention of this thread. I also agree that music shouldn't be stereotyped too much, but I don't think that was the intention.

Overly analytical? Hardly. I'm the last guy who wants to play labels on music let alone try to categorize all the different sub genres of trance these days. A single trane tune alone can have all sorts of sub genres within itself so I know trying to categorize this stuff is silly. However the labels are already out there and its not my fault.

LOL. Thats just a made up category by me. Deal with it. Its basically any song that really gets people moving in a club like atmosphere. You know...a club stomper. Rememeber I was drunk when I posted this and I did give a disclaimer.

Umm huh? Damn I made more sense in my post and I was drunk. Whats your excuse?

I do. Like I said I'm the last guy to try and lump any DJ/producer into any one genre. I just enjoy certain types of music. I can call it "melodic" or "club stomping" if I want so poo on you!

Picotto sucks.

well.. Silence have great vocals.. maybe better than Flesh. But I was more like trying to get the best track with vocals, not the best vocals
anyways I've seen by experience almost everyone lists Silence (Tiesto Mix) as one of their all-time top tracks. I don't. It's nice, but not THAT amazing.
and.. these lists keep changing week to week
