Looking at buying this setup...

Thinking about getting this set up. Seen some pretty good deals on ebay. Anything better than this setup that's in the same price range?

too much useless stuff for a conventional dj setup imo. midi and buttons here and there and all this weird stuff. should have had more air between the knobs and faders, and the master should be a fader. and the stuff on the left side what the hell is that? some mic stuff? useless. probably great for computer djs though.

Ha. Same could be said of the DJM-800 mic section and the FX section. Useless. And master level a fader? Sounds like the worst idea to me. It's not a fader on the DJM-800 either. Knocking a fader to max volume by accident is all too easy. With a knob it doesn't happen all that likely. Left side stuff on the Xone:92 can be used for mics or line level audio. The idea is that they're either mic channels or return channels for the two aux sends, which IMO allow for a much better send/return control than most other mixers do with only a dry/wet knob. So the Xone:92 can be used as a six channel mixer if need be or you can utilize the returns with the aux sends, however you like. Filters on the Xone:92 might look somewhat weird to someone who has never used them but they're really simple. Other than that it really doesn't have any "midi and buttons here and there". There are only a few things on it which output MIDI anyway, unlike on the DJM-800.

the two on the left can be used as aux returns? that actually changes alot. i take it all back then, thats actually quite usefull, atleast if youre doing something abit more creative than just playing cds. but i like the 62 looks better. 6 equal ch and nothing more. when it comes to fader for the master its probably just because im so used to djm500/600, but it seems logical to me.

Eh?

As skip rightly says (but I'll go further) pioneer are the ones that pile on useless shit to be able to charge people more or make them believe it's somehow a better product. I would go so far to say, at in terms of their mixers, Pioneer have made a name for themselves by endlessly trying to add more bells and whistles, while other manufacturers have focused on sonic and build quality.

Those Pio effects will get old very fast (I was already sick of them a month in to my mates DJM 500 ownership 10 years ago) but the A&H will last you long time, sound better and the filters and faders are lovely.

I don't understand why you'd have a master fader either. Pot? Yes. Fader? No. Just another thing to fuck up your gain staging, and combined with the fact Pioneer mixers sound like utter dogshit when redlined/clipped, it's not a smart idea.

yahhhh I can agree with this, I got the djm-700 before, because I felt "I needed" effects....but I got bored with it, I got a xone 42 now, and I can care less about effects
