I my self started as a DJ then turned into production, mainly to get my name out there , but djing was always my main thing, even now, i can't wait to get back and do it again.

I didn't. Producing first, dj-ing came second.

Started "producing" when I was about 12. DJing came a couple of years later.

I started making music first. My first program was the Magix Music Maker, and from there a little gem called TechnoEjay. I made some pretty nifty tracks but I had no clue at the time about phrasing or song structure, I just went with what sounded good. Then I got sidetracked and started djing when I met a few of the local dj's from the clubs around town. Had I to do all over again I wouldve stayed w/ music production which would mean this would be 10 years making music instead of 10 years djing. LOL!

Sad but true , producing will get you places way faster than djing

yes it does, however, djing exposes one to a variety of different tracks consistently. I mean, I find myself always looking for new tracks that will not only help define me as a dj, but also tracks that I think would rock the dance floors or help create the mood I'm wanting to set. Music producing does the same thing, but as I progress in making music, I'm also relying on a lot of the knowledge learned from being a dj. I can't place value on how dj experience assists as a music producer as I'm sure works the other way as well.

I started DJ'ing then went to audio engieering school to learn to engineer and produce.

I still DJ and I'm glad I went though that first. It gave me a clear advantage to understand club music and how it works together, especilly for a production perspective. Yes, I might be further along as a producer but that DJ'ing experience is worth more to me, as we make EDM, for DJ's to play so that insight is priceless IMO.

Absolutely, I was a DJ then all of a sudden I realised 'hold on, I can actually learn to make this stuff'.

hhh, exactly what flashed in my mind year and a half ago.

On the subject of Djing contributing to production, I absolutely agree, arrangement, sounds, percussions, kick, bass all will be easier to pick/shape if you already are good DJ that knows how to move the crowd and how to build a proper set .
