IBIZA _ my first day_ Thursday 15 August 2002

wow..
what an amazing day and nite.
after spending some time exploring San Antonio,
we went and got some alcohol for our ´´pre party´drinks
back at our hotel.
alcohol is damn cheap here.....very very bad.. :P

we got bak to our hotel after lazing in the pool
and chilled on the balcony, which overlooks a kool
soccer/football stadium....some english lads where training there at
nite. ... we talked and drank, and then got ready to head out to
Amnesia @ San Rafael, about 7km out from San Antonio.
aftre waiting in line for a taxi for aout 15min
we were finally there!!!!!!!!

12.45am

we get inside and chill for a while till the place fills up
at about 2am, Ashely Caselle came on, and took control
of the wheels of steel from Col Hamilton, who i think played a great
set, track selection wise, but there were some average mixing transitions
i some places.
not to worry
its all about the MUSIC as they say!

ashley came on and took us away on a smooth journey
of progressive tek house and some breaks thrown in between

very very very nice.

...after havin´seen him play last time in Berlin, for LovefromAbove
i must say he is certainly one of my fav´´ dj´s.
he knows how to work a crowd..thats for sure





so....at about 4am
paul van dyk came out and got ready to go on .

i must say
the place was roaring as soon as he came on.
he worked his way thru with some amazing new
uplifting and pumping tracks that made us all go crazy...

the koolest thing was this ´´kool air´¨ machine they had there.
its similar to a smoke machine but its 10000 times better
it doesnt smell of smoke!!!! ...but wen they press the magic button
a gush of cold air/mist shots ot and envelops all of us in the centre
with some refreshing cold air...!!!!!

its soo kool!

...even Paul loved it.
at time he woulf wait for a peak in a track
and have us all in anticipation as to when he will let go..
...then bang.......lights come on and we are all under a white
smokey mist...


its definately a site to see and experience!

i had the time of my life.
ive never experienced nothing like this anywhere in the world..
it was electric....!
i guess thats why they call ibiza the home of clubbing
it realy is!

i was having so much fun that i didnt have the time to
trainspot some of the tracks paul dropped.

some standouts i do recall. :

- blank and jones - secrets and lies
- jan johnston - i feel you (pvd remix_)
-emerge - fisherspooner
- city - suzann
- three drives - carerra 2Ç
- Reloop - Fucking Soceity (pvd remix?)
- Aquanauts - deep sea (martin eyerer remix)

there were so many others that i completely lost it to..
so many new tracks as well...

- Underworld - Born Slippy (pvd unreleased remix)
omg! ....that totally rocked.
he had us all go crazy and also turned down the volume at times
to hear us sing along to it...wikked!

- des mitchell - welcome to the dance
another classic anthem. with that ibiza fee to it
i had goosebumps all over.
that was the first time id heard it played out
and wow...ill alsways remember that moment!


- Dreaming - arolla (new pvd mix ?????)
a classic track also with that ibiza spanish feel to it
rocked the place!


ahhh

what else can say?
at times we would all look at each other
and ask where are we?
it felt like an amazing dream...

the atmosphere..the club....the music..the clubbers..
10-10.
nothig else i could have asked for...

the nite was drawing to a close, and it wsa 7am.
paul was advertised to do a 3 hr set.
but he was enjoyin´g himself and played till 745am
.....the nite was soon over.
everyone that was still there thanked him and we all
walked out to the exit.. to try and figure out how we would get back home!

i was a nite ill always remember back to
and i hopeill be back there next year in 2003. and i hope Paul
is back at Cream, Amnesia to spin his fine blend of the most pumping and emotional
music ive ever heard in my life..!

8am
outisde the club, there were thousands of ppl
waiting to get home, or. for the more adventurous ones
another afterparty to goto...some ppl we spoke to were going to
Space, Ibiza.

i was in no state to continue !
i was very tired and sore from the continous dancing from
1-8am..but it was so worth it!...id do it all over again that same day if
i had the chance!
.....

we walked along the outside of the club
nd some guy told us that there was a free bus
leaving for san antonio in 5mins.
as we made our way back we walked past Paul and Markus
geting into a car and leaving..

the free shuttle bus was wikked!
they had some funky proggy house music playing
along they way back home....



so there we have it.
IBIZA....day one.......
