Dude James Holden is one of the kings of prog. Unfortunatly I don't think you would make much money bringing him here. Alot of the prog DJs that have to Van come to van Anthony Pappa and Deep Dish to name a couple didn't make any money. Now if he was at a party with a couple other big DJs then that would be killer.

Shit dude, throwing a club night and throwing a party are two diffrent ballparks. I dont have tens of thousamds of dollars to throw a party with multiple headliners. I can throw a club night for a couple grand.

Ya I know dude, I am just saying I can almost guaratee you won't make money at a club night with James Holden. I don't think enough people in van have heard of him.
Are you sure its only a couple grand? I would assume the headliner would cost more than that, plus his flight and hotel. Not to mention the other DJs you book to open, a local that is popular enough to help get the people in there. Then you got the club rental and probably licences to pay for and also promotions printing flyers and junk can get expensive itself.

Ive helped out with club night before, plus my bro had his own night for a long time. Ive got a pretty good idea what it will cost me and its not even a fraction of what a party would cost.
Im just kicking around ideas right now. At the moment i think james would bring in a corwd. Look at the last couple progressive DJ's that have been down. Max Graham, Steve Lawler, Dave seaman, Timo Maas, Sander Klienberg, John Creamer. All these nights did very well. Progressive may not be very popular with the ravers but there is a market with the Adult crowd.

I bet you could pack Sonar, but not Commodore. May want to work in affiliation with the guys who do Tuesday night there, since they're big into bringing prog DJs in. Personally I would absolutely love seeing Holden, if you brought him in I'd guarantee you that I'd drag out a good dozen peeps =)

No offence man...
but I think it would cost a lot more than a 'couple' grand to get James Holden down here. His booking fee along with a flight would probably be at least 5 grand alone. He probably doesn't fly economy flights and he'd probably be expecting to stay somewhere that costs more than $150/night. Then you have to also deal with flyer costs,,, venue expenses,,, etc. etc.
However,,, you might be able to save a lot of $$$ dependong on what night of the week you're planning on booking him,,, and also if you can catch him while he's already somewhere in Canada or on the west coast.
Anyways... You've got the right idea though! That would be fuckin awesome if it ever happened.
