Vote and discuss if you agree. Like I wrote there I do enjoy the digging though I generally know what to look for. But at the same time it is only fair for the labels and the producers to get the platform they deserve.

In a practical sense, this doesn't really bother me, because searching by genre on Beatport is a guaranteed to make you want to strangle yourself with your headphone cable within 30 minutes, whatever the genre. As a progressive house fan, it bothers me greatly to see the genre reduced to a dumping ground for 128bpm DOOF-DOOF-DOOF-DOOF music.

But then, what is progressive house in 2011? Does Sasha really sound anything like Jaytech? I'm increasingly seeing podcasts called "Progressive Intelligence" or "Progressive Emotion", seeing people talk about "progressive culture" and signing forum posts with "progressive forever". It's one step away from "#trancefamily". It nauseates me, it makes me ashamed to say I like progressive house. The word has become as abused as "trance"... this shit has nothing to do with React 2 Rhythm or Leftfield. Most of it is just epic trance at -8 with bigger basslines, or tech house with the occasional pad wash.

I think it's been that way for years now. I've always found it hilarious how people call something "progressive" just because it's slower and more monotonous and then act like it's somehow progressive or more intelligent.

Yeah, i voted for that.
Guetta and Laidback Luke on Progressive House charts is a fucking joke

Progressive House producers are trying everything to keep the genre with a PROPER sound. When im saying PROPER i'm not talking about good or bad productions, i'm talking about the style.

Today there is a lot of genres, like Trance, you just cannot say if it is Trance or whatever. They want Progressive House as a well defined genre.

I know there is some prog tunes you still have difficulty to distinguish the genre, but Progressive House is taking the right path

this is just the tip of the iceberg imo. there should be more in depth genre covering, branches even. the genres are way too broad imo, atleast to make it more fair. the commercial acts spread across these bloated genres(just sayin'). its probably come down to business these days, whatever

That is one way of looking it. Progressive house is not what digweed plays tho. Get it right. It is not about ''Dave seaman top 10'' either. It never has been. It is about and the scene, the music and the movement. So it has to be big. If it does not sound big it is not progressive house. And you know what... it is strange all these years have gone by and people still go back to this stuff. Longing for that new york sound... That fusion of house and trance... those big room records that poke through your soul. The Djs that give people moments to live for as well as the talented producers in the US and abroad who fuel this scene... both established and up and coming trying to break their music in these fucked up times. We are still here. NY Tribal. West 27th For life.

voted, progressive house is probably the umbrella for all the lost raindrops it's not only that you find this general electro house pop fest but also some odd trance tracks written in 128 bpm i prefer to look for dj charts & labels rather than the top 100 because rarely i find what i am looking for

You think that's bad?! Try browsing the drum'n'bass session!

There isn't a single sub-genre, which akin to having a gigantic 4/4 session encompassing techno, trance, and polka.
