My first entry here, uplifting / progressive Trance

Hi all, I am new here. I am a huge trance fan, been to lots of parties in europe this year and last.

I've been producing trance for some years now, but I have never been able to get that sound I'd like to to make it sound as all the other professional tracks out there.

I think I am finally on to something, though, and would love to hear your response to it!

Here's the link!

I tried to figure out how to get the Soundcloud Player to show up on this page, but no luck. Maybe someone can tell me how to do that

There is a chance that I will have to change the melody in this one, as it strongly resemblence Deadmou5 - Strobe in some parts of the tune. I was initally making it as a remix, but I changed my mind because noone could here what was the original tune. But now I've got complains it is too similar, so I have second thoughts
Maybe I should just make it a remix?

Anyway, I hope to get some critical respons on what is good and what is not technically-wise. I know the breakdown probably needs some more work. And hi-hats / percs is the last thing I want to finetune. Haven't done that yet

It was going to be an uplifting track, but I think maybe the buil-up before take-off is too short for that? And someone said that it is techy. I don't think it is techy, but maybe progressive? I really have a hard time figuring out

Anyway, please turn up the volume and have a listen!

Hey man,

you've got a lot of stuff going on in the mid-range (at leas that's what it sounds like), so it makes it sound like most of the track (pretty much everything before the main lead) sound like it's running through some sort of dampening effect.

Really love the sound you used for the lead.

Nice work man.

Sounds quite good for a work in progress

As far as the Deadmau5 comparison, your sound isn't similar to his so its not readily recognizible. Probably don't need to worry about it too much.

Thanks for feedback!
I thought I had done a good job on the EQ, but I agree with you. I'll see what I can do about it. Any ideas how to fix that? I guess that when I work on the hihats / percussion it will be a bit better at least, but I guess there is still too much going on in the mid frequencies.

I've got so much negative feedback on the Deadmou5 similarity so I am pretty sure I have to do something about that too.

to level with you

deadmau5 brought back some medieval trance shit into the electro/big beat scene and played some prog sets totally out of context ... but most people who think you are influenced by him don't recognize the origins of those chord progressions

if you actually intend this to be a remix, credit the dude and back off

sampling/repetition is the basis of dance club music

very nostalgic track for me

Mehta,

your reply makes not sense to me.
I did ask for everyones opinion on however I should make this into my own track or a remix.

If I'll make it my own, I it seems that I will have to remove chordprogessions that are from Strobe, and make some other ones instead. I have no problems with that, and said so in the original post.
If I don't remove them, then this will be a remix, if I am allowed to make a remix of it, that is.

That said, I'd love to get more constructive feedback on the track!
