Question Before Gig (Pioneer CDJ-2000)

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask just a few questions before having a gig on Pioneer CDJ-2000s. First of all, I recently decided to pick up 2x Patriot Memory Xporter Rage (32GB) drives. I think its important to note that I will not be using recordBox during this session as I have never used it in the past. What I would like to know, however, is how I should add music to the USB; I know it sounds silly, but should I make any folders on the drive, or should I dump everything there? Next, I'd like to know how I can arrange my tracks in key (for harmonic mixing) if I am not using Pioneer's recordBox software? Should I edit the track titles to say, "1A," "2A" and etc.?

Thanks for the help guys, would appreciate answers.

To add music to the drive, just copy, or drag the files over to the drive. Once you plug the drive into the computer, it will recognize it. When I use the 2000's, I have one folder with all my tunes it it. Unless it's a specific gig, Then I'll create a second folder. Before dumping all your music onto the drive, you'll have to figure out how music you have, and how much space you have on the drive. If your music library is too big for the drive, I would just transfer over the tunes that you know you'll use.

If I were you I would download Rekordbox. It's a free download from Pioneer's website. It will greatly help you before the gig. The problem I've found with the 900', 2000's is, they like to see tracks that have been scanned through Rekordbox first. When I first started on the 2000's, the second I would load a tune the CDJ wanted to do a scan. Not much of a big deal but can be annoying. Which is why I always suggest Rekordbox first.

I'm not quite sure how to add harmonic keys onto the track ID without Rekordbox. Someone said something about ID3 tags. Maybe they'll see this thread and have more detail.
