I bought Nerve last night, but only had a little while to check it out. To answer my own questions, in case anybody else is interested, the v1.01 update is 64-bit on Windows and the drag-n-drop functionality seems to work fine in Sonar X1 and Studio One v2. I'll test it out further this week and try wrapping it in PT9 (there is no RTAS version).

I also picked up this awesome little goodie called LFOTool (only $25):

Well, Metrum was never meant to be a drum machine/sequencer. I personally don't have any interest in a dedicated kick drum instrument, but I understand what they were trying to do. But, not surprisingly, it doesn't seem like it had much success.

I tried Xfer demo but could not seem to find a way to get my samples into it!

Out of interest what does this bring you that your NI Maschine does not?

Are you using it's own samples? Kicks in particular interest me. Mind you I've been thinking of getting a hardware kick maker as all my hero's seem to be using them, such as;

Click on the Load button in the lower right-hand corner, or just drag a sample from your desktop onto a pad. Very simple.

Nerve has the additive engine, which is great for completely reshaping samples, better groove extraction, better sample editing, etc. But, to be clear, Nerve isn't going to replace Maschine - I just like to have lots of drum instruments at my disposal and I configure them to operate with Maschine as the controller.

As I mentioned, I just got it yesterday, so I haven't used it in a production yet. But, like most drum instruments, I'll probably use both the factory content and my own samples.

the problem with metrum is that it should of been for all sounds , not just kicks. More than 3 layers. This is a good replacement as you can have many layers, lots of enveloppes and effects as well. Battery lacks a few features. In fact why is NI ignoring battery.

Yeah, that would have probably made it much more successful (and justified its $199 price tag - i.e., the same price as Nerve).

I'm surprised that NI hasn't ported some of Battery's features (particularly the layering features) into Maschine and just eliminated it. They haven't really given Battery much attention in a while anyway.

does machine exist as just a program ? Or is it a hybrid only ? I like battery but honestly, i mean they should just have a cell style layout for kontakt if you want. it is purely a visual thing that makes battery appealling.

I used to use oldschool samplers so it is just against the way I work to have audio samples in the arrangement unless it is a bounced track. The issue is that with mac and the multiple outs that force 1 core processing makes it hard to really develop sounds by having a barrage of FX on the multi outs.
