Be Cool! Vector A reviews your tunes (part I) [reviews closed]

The first twenty people to post one of their own tracks in this thread will get a review at least three sentences long from yours truly. I make no claim to musical expertise or reviewing skill. But I enjoy listening to new music and I would like to hear yours.

No more than one track per person, please.

[Edit: Okay, twenty people have posted tracks, so no more for now.]

Does it have to be an EDM track?

Anything will do, although if it is not electronic at all, my competence at reviewing will probably be lower than it already is.

Here's the latest track that I'm finishing. We're not sure if we're ready to call it done yet, though - sorta just letting it age right now to see if/what changes we may make. A little background, I've known the singer (Leanna) through a friend for a few years now and, during a camping trip this past summer, we decided to try throwing a song together to see what happens, and here's what we've got. She's an actress living in LA and is featured in several shows, commercials, and will be co-starring in an upcoming revival of the 'Dallas' TV show on TNT this summer. Anyway, I wrote and produced/played all the instruments and this is her first time ever writing and singing her own lyrics. I'd actually be very interested in hearing how the mix translates on other systems, since this is my first near-complete mix with my modified studio layout, subwoofer, etc.

Production sounds excellent. Kind of a New Age feel to it, but with better bass and rhythm. Not big on the lyrics at all, but I suppose you had no hand in that.

As far as the mix goes, it sounds quite clear and spacious to me, but be warned that I am on headphones rather than monitors, so I can't give the low end a proper evaluation.

No, and believe me, if I had written them, they would have been terrible (unless you think Homer Simpson writes good lyrics, then maybe...). Thanks for the listen and the input on the mix - much appreciated!

BTW, why is this thread Part 1? What will Part 2 be?

More of the same, I imagine, if this goes reasonably well.

Although I may add twists in the future.

Nice buzzy phasey bass noise, I like that. Enjoyed the stop-start rhythm of the bass and percs combo as well. But I felt like there was a lot of buildup for not much payoff, when you set up the breakdown with that shortening riff and the noise and then just go straight back to the bass-kick combo. Guess I expected something with a little more pizzazz.

Also, I am curious what this is about : "After last night, I just had to name this cinnamon." Some wild night of cinnamon-fueled antics?

lol well i am a freshman in college you see, and a friend who lives on my floor (i live in the dorms) started drinking a lot for his first time. Unfortunately thru his blackout drunken antics the Resident Advisors called the police/ambulance as they have to whenever they catch someone blackout drunk. When the cops were asking him questions they asked him what his major was. His major was cinema, but he drunkenly slurred his speech and told the cops his major was cinnamon. and thanks for your review, im still deciding wether or not i should add anything to the drop
