waldorf attack is supposed to be able to simulate the classic 808 909 etc very well. it has a special osc just for open and closed hats like the 909

it also has adjustable envelopes concave/convex which is v useful

thers a section in the dance music manual that i worked thorugh recently and it details how to make pretty much every percussion from kicks to toms to hats.

i just used massive for this and was pleasantly suprised! i made a little beat and it didnt sound too bad

I highly recommend giving the FXpansion Tremor demo a go. It can be a CPU hog and the presets aren't getting much love from anyone (although they do give a good idea of the potential), but it's excellent for synthesizing drums/percs.

Oh, one other one to check out is Rob Papen's Punch. I've only tried the demo, but it seems decent.

I use FX Pansions DCAM synth squad, esp the synth called Cypher for percy sounds, which I can the automate through a track for example to add filter drive and fm filter modulation as it progresses.

I've been wondering whether to get Tremor, esp as it's on special offer just now. I think it would be ideal for the techno type grungy sounds I like in percs.

I find the Cubase reverence convolution room reverbs are decent on percy sounds such as electronique toms and blips.

That offer ends today, so you'd better decide quickly! If you have the cash and want a killer drum synth, I'd say to go for it. It's based on DCAM's synth engines, but it's highly customized for drums and has a really cool polyrhythmic sequencer.

I make my own kick drums using sylenth. I can make them sound just as punchy as any Deadmau5/Arty track. It's actually pretty straight forward.

Thats great. But i was asking about Percs.

Been playing with tremor, suprisingly good on cpu. But not really impressed, and this was based on a hour of tweeking.

Will have to give Cypher a go to.

Anyone use Logic's Sculpture? So far nothing has sounded as nice as this.

Never used it, but I've seen it in action (e.g., youtube tuts) and it looks nice.

What about Sonic Charge µTonic? That's an oldie, but goodie.
