UPDATED Let's just call it DANCE music

(UPDATED 2/21 posted down the thread)

This one has Techno, Electro and House influences. I think this one has potential but I have a heck of a time taking a good idea and making it releasable. Such a time I have never made it that far yet ;(

Any suggestions?

BTW I forgot to finish the last 1/5 of the song so it sounds wierd the last 1/5th.

the track sounds like it is really well produced. definitely modern sounding. the one ride cymbal/hh sounds like a tad bit too much though. i'd consider eqing it a bit more so it isn't as obnoxious

pretty long intro for the track. why not try keeping it to a minute?

pretty rough transition into the one vocal sample. it comes across as awkward to me as a listener.

at 2:30, i still feel like i'm in the intro of the track. it feels like nothings has happened yet.

at 3:00 finally starting to feel a bit of a build. this should be what the intro feels like in my opinion.

the melody that comes in at 3:45 isn't very convincing and sounds too thin. i think if you just layered it with a fuller sound you'd be good.

the weird stuff that comes in at 4:00 actually sounds pretty cool.

pretty stereotypical exit of the breakdown. makes the track not feel special

by 6:00, i still feel like nothing has happened yet.

i think you should really focus on writing a coherent verse. by that, i mean you need to find a melody and build the point of the track around that. that's how you can take your tracks to the next level

Bloody awesome percs again, really capturing that Friday night going out sense. I got you marked as a true dance producer. The drop is fabtastic - kinda wierd, but great.

I'm liking this bro.

I agree with the poster above though, the percs are a little loud for my taste, but thats just preference.

I also agree with the above that I think more needs to come into the track, sounds very much the same going through.

Either it needs to build and build in the same vein or maybe add a break and slow it down then bring in a build up, making the drop even bigger?

Thanks for taking the time to review the song in depth and help me see an unbiased ears opinion. Got you on the hihats, structure problems, ect. I am aiming to keep the track short so I will definitely cut some of the intro.

Thanks brother! I wanted to make this one more club friendly than for avid listners to electronic music. Your feedback shows me I am moving in the right direction.

Great ideas. I will definitely be turning down the percussion and working on the structure.

I mean this is my personal bias, but there is definitely a trend for shorter tracks these days. like it is definitely not a problem if your track is only 5:00 long where 2:00 of the 5:00 is intro and outro drum breaks. that's just the way things are going and what i think sounds more convincing

I absolutely agree on the shorter tracks. I have noticed this lately as well. I have done more underground style tracks and will again - but this one is meant to be club friendly and mainstream DJ support friendly (ie, Tiesto, Pete Tong, ect).

I have a lot of work to do but I have some ideas for it and will restructure the track from the ground up with more emphasis on phrasing as you said. I have some mixing to do as well.

EDIT: Just saw all your timed comments giving advice on soundcloud Richard, thanks for posting those.

I gotta say, I really like this track. Can't wait for the finished version.

That means a lot coming from you. It is going to be tricky for me to get it done but the positive feedback means a ton to me and it is going to motivate me to finish it.

I am honestly not trying to bump this but the first version I posted had a lot of flaws and I really don't want people seeing that one.

I won't be posting anymore updates as I will be sending the final version, when it is finished as a demo. I hope the song is about 6 minutes long, so I cut out about minute and a half early.
