I saw on their website that the S2 is for $449 from the beginning of February until the end of March...but is an all-in-one controller the best way to go when just starting out? From what I've researched, buying the mixer and decks separately is better. I could be wrong, my knowledge on this is very limited. Thanks for the feedback.

Hmm...that's what I was thinking...do you think the Denon decks and mixer I mentioned are a good choice? I don't have the funds for anything Pioneer, so I was thinking about those.

Nah man, getting anything but the 1200s is stupid. The 1200's have cult status because they are built to last and can take ALOT of punishment, and they are easy to get fixed, and the motor is really nice to play on as well. Sure the ttx' have insane torque, but it looks like a spaceship and it feels like plastic, and that's top of the line turntables, going down in price it only gets worse.
I played on Omnitronic dd-2250's for many years before getting 1200's and the learning curve on shitty equipment is far steeper than on club standard equipment.
You'll end up wanting technics, so there's no point in buying subpar equipment, especially when you don't even know if you like mixing.
Man, you guys are giving some really shitty advice around here.

Well...the 1200's you guys are suggesting are out of my price range, considering I'd have to buy a mixer as well. I appreciate the suggestions though. I don't really want to mix with vinyl either...I would have to obtain records opposed to burning CDs. I don't know...I guess I have to step back and just give it some more thought. I want decent equipment but I don't want to spend over $1000 starting out. I also want equipment that is good for a beginner. Any other suggestions would be appreciated...
