For producing electronic music, what do you prefer: Macs or PC's?

my friends who are music majors, swear that MACs are a ton better than PC when it comes to graphics and music. The music programs are easier to use . . .etc.

If I had the money, id get a mac instead of another PC.

what about the software

Well, Ill always love my PC, but after messing around on my friends mac computer, the music creating software is a lot easier to use then my Acid program for PC. Its much simpler and you gotta love the fact that Macs rarely locks up.
Im not a computer genius, but my friend said that Macs arent as big into multi task like the PC is.

I'm using a PC hybrid right now, but would like to switch to a Mac.
For software, Acid Pro 3.0 and then some outboard stuff; Korg Electribe, Roland Sytnth, various mics. I'm thinking about getting Digital Performer though (Mark of the Unicorn). That program's the shiznit!

Since you brought it up, how is the Acid 3.0? I have the Acid 2.0 version and I have thought about getting 3.0. Since I just bought 2 turntables, my vinyl addiction has gone ape nutz so is upgrading to 3.0 worth it?

Acid 3.0 gives all this hype about "great for remixing" yadda-yadda.
If you know your stuff, 2.0 works great. I wouldn't bother upgrading. It's really how you use the equipment.

Busy Child, how long you been spinning? What type of stuff? Equipment?

Ive been spinning since May this year using mostly my friend's Technics because hes a "retired" dj. All I know is mixing and Im not too bad at it.
Im the few ppl on this world that prefer Stantons over Techies, so I just recently ordered Stantons Str8-100's. Im the type of person that likes gadgets and gizmos so I believe Stantons are heading into a great direction especially with the new FastScratch stuff coming out. Now that I will have my own tables, I can now do some serious damage without having to worry about my friend bitchin.
I have a decent Numark mixer because Im on a budget but in the near future, I would definately like to get Vestax 275 or even a Rane.

Again, since Im on a budget due to college, I dont have the funds to buy any vinyl I want so I concentrate more on buying sick vinyls that I would spin at parties. So that means. . . .A LOT of tech house, break, and some hard trance.

MAC!

that's what the software was designed for at first, and that's what you will find 95% of the time in the studios


I own pc/mac ... and mac owns the pc big time

so much more stable

and to the point!

NO FOOLING AROUND trying to get the thing to work! It's 100% uptime!

problem is ... they are more expensive, but considering the happiness you gain from them , I think it's all worth it.

While they are generally more expensive then pcs, the econo macs are starting to be extremely suitable for audio/top notch work

My roomate bought a new mac OS for his labtop and it was $69 instead of $600 for a new windows OS
