Cleaning vinyls and stylus

Here are some misc. questions that I've always had, but never came across to ask:

What is the best method for cleaning vinyl records? Is it necessary to use a vinyl cleaning kit, any other possible solution to use?
What about the stylus? I just brush it every so often, about once a week.

Also, many of my records lately have been skipping in certain areas. I can't tell if that is a scratch, or simply they need cleaning. I can tell from a couple, that they have some type of mass or dust stuck in the groove. Dont know how to get that out without damaging the groove.

Finally, question about the contacts between the tonearm and cart. How often is necessary to clean that, and with what do I clean it with. I believe I also saw somewhere where they mentioned cleaning the RCAs from the TTs. What would be the best way to clean them?

Here is what i do.

With my old techs I had to dip the contacts in alcohol at least 2 or three times a day (cause i mix at least 4 hours) to keep the sound clean otheriwse it sounded buzzy and distorted. With the new ones i just picked up, i havent had to do that yet.

Stylus. I have to clean that at least every nite. Becuase i spin live so much my greasy fingers tend to leave shit on the outter edges of the vinyl and that gets on the tip. If it wasnt so hot and sweatie in clubs or parties my problem would be solved.

to clean vinyl always use Gruv Glide...best for vinyl also enhances the sound and cuts static out,

as for cleaning the connectors of your needle really try to avoid cleaning it or taking it out of the tone arm as much as possible cuz to much cleaning causes it to build up with crap even more....but if you really have to take a little tool or anything u can scrap the build up off and take a Qtip and dipwith alchole and clean them off ...but put them on and leave them so the connection holds no need to take ur n eedles off everyday unless u really messed the connectors up bad ...and need alchole to really make it work ...
