Great thread...
For me, it's always been a loong, steaming hot bath sometime between 10pm and 1am after a tough day. Lights off, maybe a candle or two lit, and a sierra nevada pale ale in my hand (with a few empties accumulating).
Also, discovering a new author that really just works for me. Admittedly, I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to, or as much as I used to, but I experienced this again recently: a couple weeks ago the New Yorker published a short story by Peter Stamm. It was (by far) the best fiction piece they'd published this year IMO. I bought two books of his short stories (translated to english) and a novel of his in the original german immediately.
Here's another one, and don't think ill of me for it: that moment when a girl realizes that you aren't "like all the other guys" who just want to have sex, and she realizes that she's totally comfortable being naked with you so she decides she wants to fuck.
Number 4: staying home alone on a Saturday night and finishing a 6 pack of beer.
A more simple one (that you'll enjoy, Stu): absentmindedly wandering from one place to the next on my campus with headphones on, and seeing a hummingbird, or a few humminbirds, dart across my path. It happens all the time (they're quite common here in socal I believe, and my campus has fantastic foliage, which they seem to enjoy) and I can't help but stop and stare. Other ppl walking think I have two heads, but they're so beautiful !
