Review of the night!
Got in around 3am, no line up, place was packed. Opening Dj was so bad I never seen such a boring crowd and dance floor at Stereo. Markus came on at 3:45. Started off hard. First hour and half were all tracks from his WMC set in April. After that, played a good 30 minutes of clubbish/mainstream selection of tracks. Finally after 2 hours, started to mix it up and play some prog and some new releases. Between 8 to 10:30, signature "Dakota" style kind of tracks were played, he finally decided to test out MORE new darker/techy/proggy type of tracks. Some obvious cheese and vocal tracks were played now and then to brighten up the set!
Overall, It was a good set. The crowd was loving every minute till the end. He got the place full till 10 which I haven't seen done since Cox played on labor day weekend.
To my taste and expectations, I was hoping for him to start slow and build up from there. I would have preferred him to play all his last few hour(s) stuff in the beginning rather than so late. His style of music really suited Stereo. I recall now there were some random technical difficulties that occured frequently during his set that would make him pause and shrug his shoulders? I can definitely see him return once a year to the temple. His style of music really suits that venue and sound system.
