Yes that's exactly what I'm talking about. I like the Jared Wilson record though. It hits hard.
Here's another example of some really cliched sound in 2012. This entire EP sounds like a parody of itself:

What track on the Snuff Crew do you like? I take it from the label this is meant for dancers lurking in the sideroom/basement? The handclaps just seem so over the top. The overall sound does not make me want to dance.

I see people charting this stuff like crazy and I dont see the appeal. Its not even remotely catchy. In fact, the records that seem the most popular are the ones that sound the most amateur and unfinished.
Generally I'm speaking of Firecracker, Unthank, Vakula, Rush Hour, Kyle Hall type material. I get exausted sifting through this sound week after week. I dont think it has any lasting power whatsoever and it blows my mind that everyone wants to buy and play it for an audience.
Can someone who thinks that this is good music explain the context that this music would have appeal besides easy listening at home with a couple of friends?
The only guy that I can think of that is doing this sound well is Andres Dez and that's because he puts a ton of funk and soul into his productions. That guy is pure talent and he rarely misses. Love his music but I'm struggling to come up with other producer names in this genre that I can get down with on any type of consistent basis.

Help me understand what is happening here. I'm trying to keep an open mind. |
The stuttery 909 claps are a throwback to the days of early Chicago house, of course. I like that last song quite a bit, reminds me a tad of Lone's productions. The Minsk stuff posted below isn't too bad either, even if every single song sounds almost identical. First 2 songs you posted (the Kyle Hall song) are blah.
