This probably has been asked before, so I'll apologize in advance. Either way, can the cheapest macbook air run traktor without issues? Any estimate what a non-mac laptop with the same specs would cost?

Just make sure it has an SSD, at least 4 gigs of ram and an Intel processor and you'll be good.
All macbook airs have SSDs. They're also not a requisite to run traktor.

Yea...you think I thought they were? Come on man. Anyway all I meant is that Traktor runs a hell of a lot smoother on an SSD than on a regular 5400rpm laptop hard drive.

Traktor runs more than adequately for live use on a 5400rpm drive.
An SSD is a luxury, and from the OP it doesn't sound like he/she wants to splurge.

Well, I've had problems running Traktor Scratch on my laptop when it still had the stock 5400 rpm drive. Once I upgraded to an SSD I never had such problems again.
You say it is a luxury...until you actually get one. Then you'll realize that you didn't want it, you needed it
