Better Days UK review
In brief-
John E was supposed to play an old school set. I was at this party a few years ago, & was expecting an awesome set just like he played at that one- music from the pre-breakbeat days, full of piano riffs. All I heard was crap house. Is Shakedown's "At Night" considered 'old school' already? Enjoyed the Merry Pranksters room much more at this point.
Anne Savage gets on & tears it up. Relentless UK Hard House from beginning to end- a complete jolt to the system after that opening act. A lot of people started to leave- not sure if it was the drinking crowd leaving (as I don't attend Sat. nites there normally), or if people didn't care for her style, but now there was more dancing room for the rest of us. Played a 2-hr set, and poof! She was done. Then Chris Avila follows her with some prog. house tunes. A complete buzzkill after Anne's set.
The promoters didn't have a good pairing of compatible DJ's, and I felt cheated out of the old school set I'd been waiting 2.5 years to hear, but 10/10 for Anne Savage.
