DJing the beginning ?

It all started with an event called Yellow Fever in Leuven(Belgium) one year ago, where i heared Svenson, Minimalistix and Tiësto spinning. Since then you start to download a lot of mp3 and live-sets.

I noticed while downloading tracks that, there were alot of tracks that i had allready heared somewhere like Universal Nation, Silence and many many more.

From then till now I'm really hooked to the music and I've experienced the dif. styles like hard-trance,uplifting,tec-trance,prog. ,... and I'm still learning each day ...

Since the past year I've not only a been impressed by the power of the music but also by the art of DJing. Last month I've been to an event called Brussels is Burning with Judge Jules,Push, Marco V,Bliss,Decoy&Roy,Picotto, ... This event made the feeling stronger, that it must be an unbelievable, impressive feeling to get the crowd totaly wild

Now I want to go to this new level and try it out myself. But if it comes to vinyl, mixers and decks I'm total noob The only thing i now is that belt-driven decks ain't really good. I've got some tips of friend and I would take it in considiration to buy this stanton pack( http://www.htfr.com/products/browse...&catno=MR84365& )

I would really appreciate it if you guys gave me some tips about the whole thing

Thx in advance
Eagle

hey, use the search button if you want some info. Theres a lot of info about this matter and that should help you out. If i were you, i wouldnt go for any type of dj package because there are much better deals that you can get for your budget.

The best piece of advice I can give you is that you get what you pay for. If you buy cheeper equipment, chances are that in 6 months you will want to upgrade. If you are really certain that this is something you want to do, then I suggest that you save up a bit more and get something really worthwhile. Getting good turntables is very important. Getting a good mixer is not so important becasue you can still learn and mix well with an average priced mixer.

I understand that you will have a limit of how much you can spend, but you will thank yourself in the long run.

alot of people get used stuff too [like me] but make sure that they pack well especially with ups becuase they will run over your package a few times if they feel like it... even if you have insurance it doesnt matter becuase they have alot of fine print. so if you buy from someone make sure they pack it well or have it packed for them by a pro.

as far as equipment goes, just read through the other postings and you will get an idea of whats good and whats bad... it should be obvious. there are two about stores, one about bedroom dj setups to give you an idea of what most people have, one about dream systems....

like what was said before you get what you pay for... i try to do my research and get teh best and slowly build my system instead of wasting money on things that i know im gonna be upgrading. thats just me though : )

stick with this forum though, you will find as i have in the past few days of my membership, that there are very knowledgable people who share the same passion as you do, so you dont get those people who blow you off becuase they think they are too good... [how could they be truely passionate anyway if they are only willing to talk to a hand full of people about things like this] its a relief for me really becuase it was hard for me to get started until i figured out that this site had good forums.

my 2 cents..

like cheggy mentioned...getting good turntables is a must (direct drive, nothing belt driven)

*decent/excellent decks: Technic, Vestax, Stanton (ofcourse there are more...) go do some research..

as it had been said before, it doesnt really mattter what mixer you start out with..but decks is a differnt story.

so now u should be asking yourself: how much money should/are you willing to spend..u get what you paid for

so if you have a lot $$$$ and you really wanna do this: then definately Get technic decks...but dont take my words for it go do some research.

if you really wanna do this but $$$$ is a problem then you can try looking at some STanton decks or like DJJade you can look at some 2nd hand stuff..

well thats pretty much it man..go do some research come back if you need more help coz u know there are many talented peeps/DJs at this forum...

dont go to www.outofprintmusic.com (i think thats what its called)

I ordered 2 records from there despite reading somewhere that they take forever to ship, and i shouldve listened. Over 2.5 weeks and i still havent gotten my order in.

My advice to you: Listen to the wisdom in this forum and take it seriously.

actually a lot of it can be bs.

the best thing for you to do is to hold off your purchases!!! do lots of research, learn everything you need to know, so that you can make the best choice for yourself.

what hey cheggy said is also golden: "you get what you pay for". perhaps nowhere does this apply more than in dj'ing.
