I usually rip from a stream using totalrecorder, u can get that from www.download.com
when u record the stream, you wanna have the setting as 16 bit stereo, 44.100 khz.
and save to a .wav file.
find a wee program called razorlame if you wish to encode as mp3.

what kind of results do you guys get in terms of quality sound. most sites have low bit streams (ie 16, 32, 64), so does that necesarily mean that your recording/mp3/wav file is also low quality? (am I missing something here?)
one last thing, can one do this on modem or is a cable/dsl connection crucial?
thx,
Dave

U can only record at the quality of the stream, u cant add quality, so if it is a 20k stream that is wot quality yr gonna get.
But i record off my digi box from sky, and can get mint quality, and then encode the wav at 192kpbs
