Hello about 65% of my soft synths have a generic -mainstream - crossover sound.

I do have a few Subtractive synths that are unique but, most of my Analogue soft synths that utilize analogue Synthesis,sound too generic.

i understand that if you know synthesis you can make any sound but still if your synth is not the right sound



im talking about these sounds if you were going to make the pad or melody what synth wouls you use in these 2

So what soft synths would you recommend that don't sound generic?

Camel Audio Alchemy can sound really crazy / non generic. Would highly recommend it if you like Absynth.

Definitely Alchemy - additive, subtractive, granular, and spectral all rolled into one. Others:

- Rob Papen Blue 2 - FM/subtractive and more hybrid synth

- Synthmaster - name a synthesis type, it probably does it

- Any additive synth - Loom, Harmor, Razor

- LinPlug Spectral

- Tone2 Electra 2 (hybrid), Nemesis (FM hybrid), or RayBlaster (IMS)

- DCAM Synth Squad, particularly Cypher and Fusor (modular shell for combining the other DCAM synths)

okay will give a try i do like Absynth its always good to add other synths to your arsenal.

Its like Absynth in that you can really "bend" sounds out of shape with its nearly unlimited modulation and morphing systems. Literally every single parameter allows you to assign 6 different modulation sources... Then comes the multi part morphing system and performance options, it is truly a sonic beast.

It doesn't sound like Absynth's signature character but I think its a better synth in many ways. Its UI is less dated than Absynths as well when you dig into the more advanced functionality where doing the same in Absynth can be frustrating due to the aging design and codebase.

Also they have stuck a bunch of filter types in there, each of four parts can have up to 4 individual filters in sequence or parallel (or a mix of the two with a slider) and then goes through 2 global filters with the same sequence/parallel setup.

Definitely give it a shot

+1, this would be my top recommendation too. omnisphere is a necessity if you want analog sounds that are unique. rompler and waveform samples aside, it's an amazing synth in its own right. its oscillators and filters sound amazing, lots of modulation possibilities, tons of effects. you can make it sound very unique.

also for unique sounds - any synth that has wavetables like the waldorf largo, someone mentioned synthmaster earlier. you can make some great soundscapes with wavetables+modulation.

another idea is to keep using your current synths, resample your sounds and try various effects and layering.

j/k - yes, Omnisphere definitely belongs on the list. As Dizzy pointed out, its synth side is more than capable, then combine that with sample-mangling synthesis, granular, FM and you're pretty much unstoppable.
