Unique/Legendary/Trademark sounds that made history

A thread dedicated to those special classic sounds that remain unreachable.

That pad type sound is the trademark and soul of this track. Tons of remixes were made, but nothing comes close to the depth, air and warmth of the original.

i just fucking love the sound of those, and any variant of them.
to me they define electronic dance music.

Yep, it's the entire 909 machine in general - all the instruments sound great. You'll never get the same sound with digital samples, either.

the 808 is of course another one but thats more hiphop 80s, a little before my time. also i dont like the sound of it. too minimal.

You can do some heavy stuff with the 808, as well, although the 909 is definitely more suitable for Trance.

Try and replicate that using software/samples.

Btw, wanna link us to your previous releases/stuff? I'm genuinely interested in hearing some of the stuff you mentioned releasing some years ago.

You could add the Amen break to that as well.

Well, that's not the point really. Not casually I underlined "unique" in the title. I talk about a particular sound/element that made some tracks legendary. Maybe I shouldn't have used the term "trademark". It deceived many thinking I was simply referring to "classic sounds".

Another example of what I'm talking about is something like the main riff in "As The Rush Comes" by Motorcycle. That sound is actually the track. It defines it and gives it a certain uniqueness. No other track has that sound, or at least nothing came close having that specific color/warmth/character or however you wanna call it. If you wanna hear that sound you simply have to play that specific track.

I'm sorry if many didn't actually get what I meant.

Well, since we all speak from different experiences; to me a couple awesome turning points for trance were: ridiculously long breakdowns and buildups (like the supernatural dub of Tilt- Invisible, and lots of Mike Koglin stuff) Robert Nickson's rolling basslines and smooth, tuned bass falls, and Andy Moor reshaping vocals as instruments. stuff just absolutely definitive of good trance!
