What specs are decent for a Macbook Pro?

I've made up my mind and I'm set on going down the Apple route.

My budget is £750

I've seen a few with different specs in my price range but what should I be looking for mainly?

A lot of people have said that an SSD is much better than a HDD, so would I be better off buying one with a 128GB SSD instead of one with a 750GB HDD? Not sure how they'd compare.

Also, would an I7 Quad Core 2.2ghrz processor be sufficient enough?

What about RAM? Can I get away with 8GB RAM, then add more at a later date if needed?

Cheers guys.

If this is your main production machine, you need a quadcore IMO. That is of course unless you use many CPU light plugins or don't mind bouncing all the time.

SSD's are good if you don't need to store alot of huge sample libraries. I feel like the minimum size that isn't a giant pain the ass though is 256GB.

You can get away with 8GB of ram unless you use tons Omnisphere/Kontakt/Sampler instances but you won't be able to add any more later as its soldered on.

Thanks, I've found one with these specs on EBay..

Apple MacBook Pro 15.4" 8GB RAM i7 2.0 GHz Quad Core, 256GB SSD 2011

It's used but I can get it for just over £500. Think that will be decent to produce on?

Yeah, this machine will do fine. There haven't been large improvements in processor performance in a long while and it looks like that model is an i7 so you should be set.

If you need more storage you can always get an external hard disk.
