as in map the buttons/pads/knobs on the keyboard to control effects from your DAW.
namely an arpeggiator and delay. so i can trigger them without using the mouse (after the initial set up of course) with the keyboard while playing live.

i know it could trigger them on/off easily, but i have no idea what would be needed to control the effects properly... as in the depth, different type, up, down, up-down, timing, 1/4, 1/8 etc.
here is the keyboard.

well every parameter that you would want to control separately would need a knob
so if you wanted to map 8 different things, all at the one time, then you would need 8 knobs
that one you posted looks like it only has 4, i would go with 8 as a minimum

a button/pad wouldn't do in some instances instead of a knob?

You're being resourceful, but trust us, measure twice & cut once. don't short yourself, pads are ok, theyre great for triggering samples but they are a little annoying when you map them for button stuff. You'll want regular buttons/switches as your ideas for mapping increase.

space is an issue and i can't play the keyboard for shit, so a 25 keys one will do, may even be beneficial.
the alesis v25 looks like the most compact keyboard with knobs and buttons.
of course more knobs would be better, but does anyone actually have a a solid figure on the minimum amount of knobs you would need to pull this off? to trigger the effect and manipulate it.
lastly is it definitely possible to arp or delay a hardware synth? it has usb midi data but no sound over usb midi.
cheers.
