Songs to Start your set

I was wondering what songs people could recommend to start a set with. What do other people use usually? I guess it depends on what sort of vibe people want to start with, I suspect it's more of a progressive or Techy vibe at first then on to more uplifting..I don't know, but any suggestions?
Cheers

Project Medusa vs. Exor - Moonshine (Exor Mix Part 2)
DJ Tiësto - Obsession (Filterheadz Remix)
Delerium - Innocente (Mr. Sam's The Space Between Us Remix)

I used the last 2 to start a mix with. But the Project Medusa track has a great 2 minutes intro.

i like to hear sets that have vocals at the start. i would prob just have the track, "WHY SO QUITE". Once the guy has done explaining up to.."And on the fifth day god created and club and the ppl started to dance".

then throw in the next track

It is a vocal used by many tunes:

Aquagen - Why are you so quiet?
Acis Step - People

Just 2 of the many tracks that use it.

On the set starter note, how often has this thread been dragged up? There are so many good unique set starters out there, depends on how hard/soft you want to begin, what the crowd are like, the mood of the night etc....so many variables it could change from time to time.

An ambient or chillout track will do nicely.

I think u mean the Katan Intro Mix..........they were mislabeled.
Definately the best to start with.........atm

I often make my intros on my own........i cut out a part from an original track (the vocals of "dark sweet piano") or i use an acapella and add some effects and more effects and more, more, more............till the drums and bass kicks in! Try that, it's a good feeling to play the selfmade intros or other own tracks!
