I just wanted to tell everyone what a blast I had at Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Tour stop at The Joint, Las Vegas. The venue was absolutely perfect in size and the best part was that the 1400 capacity was occupied by probably only 1000-1200 so it was very livable. We got there about 7:30 for the 8:00 start of the show(pretty much because Oakey is my absolute favorite DJ) and it was pretty dead. We listened to some local DJ for about an hour and then got some drinks. About 9:30 or so I went out into the casino to buy some cloves from the gift shop. On my way back to the show, PAUL OAKENFOLD HIMSELF walked by me with some guy. I could barely even keep walking let alone say something. I hauled my butt back to the show and grabbed my two best friends Tim(TA - Slinky775) and Becca. They didn't believe me but went back outside anyway. Not 10 seconds after walking back out into the casino...BAM there he was walking around again. I walked up to him and said "Oakey" and he turned and laughed and shook all of our hands. So as you can imagine at this point my night was perfect and Oakey hadn't even played his set yet! So anyway we went back in and listened to D:FUSE, with whom I was VERY impressed by. He played a track that not many people here in the US know about called Minimalistix - Struggle for Pleasure(If you don't have it I suggest you get it) and so I was way psyched! He bupped up a bit trying to mix in from a CD because it wasn't set up properly but other than that it was AWESOME. THEN OAKEY CAME UP about 11:00. Now let me set the record straight..I was already pretty sure about the show I was going to get so I was not in the least dissapointed. I forget sometimes that this is his PERFECTO tour for his two new albums so he's going to play most of his songs from those...and that's what I got from the show. It's what I expected so I was able to get excited accordingly. YES he started off with Lost it.com's - Animal which completely set the crowd on fire! He jumped back and forth from new material over to 'Another World' and 'Travelling' stuff and I loved every minute of it! About 45 minutes into the show I noticed that his little "Perfecto get the crowd going guy" seemed to be taking stuff from the audience back to the DJ booth. So of course I got my ass up there lickety split. Most people were giving the guy flyers and programs but I kinda went a step further. I took off the blue Caffiene shirt I was wearing and gave it to the guy. He took it and laughed at me and said "hang on". Periodically he brought back peoples stuff but he never brought back my shirt so I had to remind him. So he trots back there and grabs my shirt and hands it back to me with a wonderful "Oakey" written on it. I about shit because I knew that this was the best night I could have had. Everyone congratulated me on my autographed shirt accomplishment, and then I just kicked back and enjoyed the last hour of the show. His last two songs of the night were: Insigma - Open your eyes(Insigma Miz) and finally that completely orgasmic Skip Raiders - Come Back to Me(w/the Return of the Jedi melody) and people were seriously crying. I was about as fulfilled as a person can be after a show. It seriously everything I wanted to be and so I thought you all might like me to share it with you. I look forward to the return to the Oakey not restricated by an album tour and am happy that day is rapidly approaching! Anyways it appears I have written a book so I guess I will cut it here...

I can't beleive that. I saw him here in Tucson last Friday and about 7 weeks ago in Phoenix. Both shows he opened w/ animal. I couldn't decide if that was cool or not. Now after hearing he opened w/ that in Vegas too I don't think so. It definately did hype the crowd up, so it served it's purpose, I guess he probably figures no one is at more than one of his shows. Anyway I though it was cool how he would mix in the next song and then jump about 5 feet back and look at the decks. Then he was pointing at people, kinda weird it looked like he was counting them Anyway it was another great and memorable nights. It would be cool if everyone that goes to see him would post if he started w/ animal again.

I saw Oakey in Minneapolis. He not only didnt open with Animal, but he didnt play it at all. OakeyRidesAnR1, isnt it awesome when you see people in tears after Oakenfold's performance? It is a sure sign that you just witnessed something special.

Oakey in Vegas
Christian, glad to hear you had such a moving experience!
The show in Vegas was indeed very good...I got my Hard Rock "All Access" card signed by "Oakey" as well, along with my ticket stub. Great show, good crowd...perhaps one of the most comfortable raves I've been too...must have been cooled to 70 degrees in that place! The guy running around stage grabbing stuff and getting signed was very cool! He took my camera and took a shot of us from the stage, a close up of Oakey and promptly returned with my autographed goods! They did not do that when he was in Phoenix a few weeks prior to the Vegas show. We continued our weekend in Vegas, even though Oakey was going to spin the next night in Phoenix. The Joint is a superior venue for any music event. I highly recommend it!
